Dean Rick Marksbury explains the history of this SCS satellite:

"For more than 100 years, the only place SCS was located was on the uptown campus in New Orleans. We offered classes in the evening and that worked out very well. But as we began to grow in the '90s, we knew we needed to expand. We decided to open our first satellite campus in Jefferson Parish, in the Elmwood area. We've been there now for 15 years; we've gone through three expansions and we're getting ready to start our fourth expansion."

He continues, "It’s been a very popular move. It's a commuting area. People come home in the evening and they go to class. There's plenty of free parking. It's easy to come in and to leave. Because of that, we decided to offer afternoon classes as well. The Elmwood campus has been nothing but a total success."
